The only class in Shadowverse that can put down something like 100pp worth of stats in a single turn. The most iconic mechanic in Runecraft is Spellboost. Each time you play a spell, all cards in your hand are "spellboosted", which depending on the card, will receive various bonuses (usually cost reduction). This means that cards which might ordinarily cost another class 7 play points could instead by 0... provided you've played enough spells. Due to this incredible upside, Spellboost decks are often weak in the early game, allowing the opponent a chance to capitalise and end the game before it's too late.
The most powerful Spellboost card in Shadowverse Worlds Beyond is Dimension Climb. You can reduce this 18pp spell by 1pp each time you cast a spell, eventually gaining a ludicrous effect that can completely refill your playpoints, draw a new hand, and potentially play multiple discounted followers to overwhelm the opponent. Ideally, you would play this card together with Kuon. There is even a featured combo where you can play Kuon, then Dimension Climb, then Kuon again on turn 10 to deal 19 damage to the enemy leader in a single turn!
But it's getting to 10pp that's the challenge! Often, the deck struggles against decks that can go wide, as much of the deck's removal is single target. Prospective Spellboost players must manage between boosting their hand, holding removal for key threats, and drawing more cards so that the engine doesn't run dry.
Earth Rite Rune (Dirt Rune)
The other regularly seen archetype is Earth Rite Rune. This is an archetype that focuses on playing Earth Sigils, essentially a secondary resource that sits on your field. Multiple cards have abilities that have Earth Rite, signifying how many Earth Sigils must be expended to activate the effect. These effects are often very powerful and above their pp threshold due to the Earth Sigils being consumed as a resource. In Worlds Beyond, the separation between Earth Rite and Spellboost is a thin line. Some will opt to utilise parts of both packages together.
The featured list features some cards that are also used within Spellboost decks. However, this is generally because these cards are very strong tempo-wise, rather than for their ability to spellboost other cards. Earth Rite focuses on controlling the board and swinging to the enemy leader once the opponent is unable to properly contain your board.
The possibilities are endless
These are only two sample decks for Runecraft. Are you creative enough to merge the two archetypes together and reach frontiers of magic not yet seen before? (Alternatively, you can check our decks section and see if someone else has already done it)
